In the UK 4 charity organizations jointly organized the new global initiative under the title “Youth Job Creation Summit”. Youth unemployment is identified as one of the greatest global problems in economy. In unstable countries unemployment of young people can reach up to 50-60% of the total number of the unemployed, in Serbia this data is 52%.
The “Youth Job Creation Summit” was held in London from 13th till 15th September, and gathered 150 participants from various countries and organizations. The keynote speakers were Lord Young, enterprise advisor of UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development. The Open University Subotica as a leading institution in lifelong learning in Serbia attended the Summit.
Autumn is the season that is traditionally associated with the beginning of learning and acquiring new knowledge. The Open University Subotica in this period enrolls new students in all forms of education in its Centers for Education, which are promoting the concept of lifelong learning, offering a wide range of educational contents and forms for users of different social groups.
The 20th International Festival of Children’s Theatres will be held from 19 to 25 May 2013 in Subotica, with performances from around Vojvodina and other parts of Serbia, as well as and a rerun of the Festival in Szeged, Hungary. For seven days, the Festival will be a host to artists, theatre professionals and students of theatre schools from different parts of Europe and the whole world.
On Wednesday, 15th May 2013 at 11.30 in the lecture room 213 of the Open University Subotica the opening conference will be held of the project “MATCHDO – Raising performance and competitiveness and matching the demands of the economy and the efforts of the labour market through public-private networking”. The project MATCHDO is implemented under the Lifelong Learning Programme financed by the European Commission, the project partners are: Open University Subotica, National Employment Service from Belgrade and the Provincial Secretariat for education, administration and national communities.
One of the selectors of the European Film Festival Palić, Petar Mitrić, was elected a member of the Director's Fortnight program jury at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, which is taking place from 15 to 26 of May.
